Quantum Computing!

Here's another cool thing I came across today, so here's the post :P
I'm sure everyone has heard of "quantum computing" and how its a really big deal, also how complicated it is. So lets try and put that in simple words.
Basically, quantum computing is performing tasks through atoms, or at atomic level and that's why it is so complex and costly.
So why take the pain?
Well, the answer to that is in the fact that it can process 2x data that a super computer processes. This actually increases the capacity and power of the computer beyond our imagination.
So how does it process and carry 2x data of a super computer?
The answer to that is that the quantum computer is actually built on principles of quantum physics. Now any normal data carrier can have 2 states- either 0 or 1. But this quantum computer is capable of having 3 states- 0 or 1 or 0 and 1. This sounds familiar to the quantum theory where the wave exhibits both particle and wave like behavior, a little bit. If, in the near future, we are successful in making a fully operating quantum computer, then we can get solutions to really complex stuff like the genome sequencing and others. Here's a link that explains a lot and is quite interesting:
